In a significant move to bolster diplomatic ties, Qatar and Egypt have reiterated their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and expanding collaboration in various sectors, including economic, investment, and labor. This reaffirmation came during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The talks were held in Cairo on the sidelines of the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.

The officials acknowledged the remarkable growth in economic ties, noting an 80 percent increase in trade between the two nations by 2025. They highlighted the ongoing expansion of Qatari investments in Egypt, particularly pointing out a sustainable aviation fuel production project situated in the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a key area of development.

Discussions also touched upon labor and consular cooperation, alongside regional developments aimed at reducing tensions and supporting stability. Both countries underscored the necessity of maintaining coordination on Gaza and expressed their continued backing for diplomatic solutions to regional disputes.

Moreover, Qatar and Egypt emphasized the significance of ensuring maritime security and the freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. These waterways are crucial for protecting international trade routes and maintaining regional stability.
