Vietnam and Qatar are poised to further deepen their economic and diplomatic ties, as evidenced by the recent celebration of Vietnam’s National Day in Doha. This event underscores the practical benefits of the growing partnership between the two nations, which continues to open up new opportunities across various sectors such as trade, investment, and energy.
The celebration, marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, was attended by senior officials, diplomats, and business leaders from both countries. Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, highlighted the progress in Vietnam’s development and the strengthening of its international relationships, particularly with Qatar.
Diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Qatar have been in place since 1993, with the partnership expanding across diverse industries including labor, aviation, agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, and telecommunications. This strategic cooperation has led to significant economic interchanges, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $423 million in 2025, indicating robust business engagements and investment prospects.
High-level exchanges between Vietnam and Qatar continue to foster these ties, exemplified by the visit of Qatar’s prime minister to Vietnam in October 2024. Both nations have expressed a strong interest in further enhancing their cooperation, aiming to solidify and expand their economic partnerships.
As these two countries continue to explore new avenues for collaboration, the emphasis on peace, dialogue, and international cooperation remains central to their diplomatic agenda.
