Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, officially inaugurated the eighth Global Security Forum 2026 on Monday. This significant event has brought together senior officials and dignitaries from over 100 countries to discuss pressing global security issues under the theme “The Future of Alliances.”
The forum is focused on examining the evolving international security landscape, highlighting geopolitical tensions, regional conflicts, and shifts in global partnerships. As international cooperation becomes increasingly critical, discussions aim to address emerging security threats and assess the roles of international institutions, rising powers, and non-state actors in global affairs.
Key topics include strategies for strengthening international cooperation and the importance of diplomacy, dialogue, and mediation in resolving conflicts and reinforcing regional and international stability. The discussions are particularly timely given the current global challenges and the need for cohesive action among nations.
The opening ceremony was graced by notable figures including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, alongside other senior officials. Their presence underscores the significance Qatar assigns to fostering international dialogue on security issues.
By convening this forum, Qatar aims to facilitate a platform where global leaders can collaborate and devise solutions to complex security challenges. The emphasis on alliances reflects an understanding that collective efforts are necessary to navigate the uncertainties of the current global security environment.
