Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and QatarEnergy President and CEO, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, has stressed the urgent need for a global energy framework that prioritizes energy security over political conflicts. Speaking at the 17th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting in Riyadh, Al Kaabi highlighted the severe impact of regional conflicts on global energy supplies, which have disrupted around 20 percent of the world’s hydrocarbon flow.

Al Kaabi warned that these disruptions have resulted in a significant global energy crisis, causing billions of dollars in damage due to attacks on energy infrastructure and increasing volatility in international markets. He emphasized that energy security is intrinsically linked to geopolitical stability and is crucial for the global economy’s functioning.

During the meeting, which gathered energy ministers, government representatives, industry leaders, and international organizations, Al Kaabi called for stronger international collaboration to protect energy assets, bolster supply chains, and ensure reliable energy supplies amid rising regional tensions. He expressed Qatar’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and underscored the importance of international cooperation in maintaining energy security.

Al Kaabi’s remarks underscore the broader concern that energy supplies should remain insulated from political disputes to prevent further economic instability. As global demand dynamics continue to shift, safeguarding energy infrastructure and ensuring steady supply chains remain critical tasks for international stakeholders.
