Qatar and Saudi Arabia are set to deepen their economic and trade ties after recent discussions at the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council. Senior officials from both nations have agreed to enhance cooperation across economic, trade, and industrial sectors, aiming to boost bilateral trade and strengthen economic integration.

The collaboration shows promising growth, with trade between the two countries reaching approximately $1.98 billion in 2025, marking a 36 percent increase from the previous year. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, trade grew by around 18 percent, surpassing the countries’ 15 percent growth target. Qatari exports to Saudi Arabia reached over $1.42 billion, with more than 977 Saudi companies operating in Qatar.

During the council’s meetings, officials discussed strategies to simplify import and export processes, support small and medium-sized enterprises, and improve supply-chain integration. They also explored expanding financial cooperation and finding solutions to overcome existing trade barriers, making it easier for companies to operate within both markets.

A significant focus was placed on the preparation of a Joint Economic and Trade Strategy. This strategy aims to establish priorities, initiatives, and measurable targets for the next phase of cooperation, ensuring that both countries continue to build on their economic and trade relationship.

Both Qatar and Saudi Arabia expressed a commitment to completing agreed-upon initiatives and addressing any remaining trade challenges. This commitment is part of a broader effort to promote further economic and industrial integration between the two nations.
